Effective November 26, 2008, VA has increased the number of traumatic injuries covered under TSGLI as well as liberalizing the criteria of other injuries. Follow this link for a summary of the expanded benefits. What New Injuries are Covered under TSGLI? New injuries covered include the partial amputation of the foot and hands and the degree of injuries based on severe burns. Another important change to the TSGLI program is the payment of a $25,000 benefit to those injured members who are hospitalized for a period of 15 consecutive days as a result of a traumatic injury.
